![]() When it’s time to create your style frames, you have your storyboards in the right panels as a reference. You can import your scanned storyboards and place one in each panel to easily create a multipage PDF (or just draw your storyboards right in Illustrator if you’d like). That process works well with this set-up. The typical animation workflow is to do some hand-drawn storyboards, then create a couple of key style frames, then move to animation. ![]() I also put my note text in a handwriting font, though of course that’s entirely optional. I wanted my arrows to stand out from the rest of the art and make it obvious that they were notes, so I made them bright red, and grabbed a set of stock arrows that had a hand-drawn style as a differentiator (If you’re interested, the set I used was royalty free, and you can find them here). When creating storyboards and style frames, bright red arrows and notes are a great way to indicate motion and give some context to your panels. Also, even though the script lines are currently outside the artboard, I’ve created the text box to overlap with the artboard just a bit, which will make sure the script box is duplicated when I make a new artboard. This helps me know what lines this panel references, and it’s easy to make a few changes and have these included for the client if needed. My designs are pretty close to what the final will be.įor my reference, I put the relevant script lines above each artboard in a text box. There are red arrows and comments that give direction and notes for the client.I have the relevant script lines above the board. You’ll notice a few things in this setup: If you take the time to make it as close as possible to what you want it to look like now, your client will be able to see a nearly-finished look, and you’ll have your graphics already created for you when you move to After Effects! Here’s an example from part of project I’m currently in the middle of: Starting with your first board, you can use Illustrator’s awesome toolset to create infinitely scalable vector art for your animation. Illustrator does give you ability to create multiple artboards at once and can auto-arrange them into a grid for you, but I like to duplicate each artboard as I work, since style frames often use many of the same assets of the board before it (more on that in a bit): I like to use that and shift the first artboard up to the top left corner of the canvas, allowing me to work from left to right, top to bottom from there. There’s a tool called the “ Artboard Tool” (Shift + O), that allows you to select and move artboards around. You’ll end up with one artboard in the middle of your canvas (the total area Illustrator allows you to have artwork in). If you save the file as a PDF, each artboard shows up as a separate page in the PDF – perfect for sending to clients! Set up your initial artboard at your desired animation resolution (1920×1080 in the example below): The first step is to set up your initial artboard. One of the great things about Illustrator is the ability to have multiple “pages” – called artboards – in one document. You probably know how to create and modify assets for use in After Effects, but have you ever thought of using it to plan a whole motion graphics piece from storyboard to style frames? With a little bit of setup, you can easily create client-ready storyboards and style frames that will transition perfectly over to After Effects when the time for animating comes. If you work in After Effects a good bit, you’re probably familiar with Adobe Illustrator (if you’re not, then get familiar with it! It’s probably one of the most powerful and versatile tools Adobe has created). Doing an involved motion graphics piece? Use Illustrator to create your storyboards and style frames, setting you up to easily move to After Effects! As soon as a new code comes up, we will add it to the list. Its lighting is good enough for a handful of situations and its battery life is nothing to sneeze at. If you're running tight right now, the $90 Kindle is a solid recommendation. Let's start with your budget, as that's the easiest way to make this call. We're looking into testing more competitors to find them a better option. But for the reader who doesn't want to use an Amazon-made device? The Glowlight 4 may be the best Kindle alternative for them. Oh, and loading up library books, proved to be a frustrating process. That said, for a $140 e-reader, it's lacking waterproofing, which the Paperwhite offers. One of its best features is it's no-fuss reading interface, which gets out of your way when it's time to read (Amazon could do this, and we wish it would). And while the Nook Glowlight 4 isn't better than any Kindle, it's got minor tweaks and updates that give us reason to give it some attention here. Īmazon doesn't run the whole e-reader world, so we occasionally test competitors' e-readers. Read our full Amazon Kindle Kids Edition review. Oh and it's even got helpful vocabulary building tools and a free year (a $60 value) of Amazon's Amazon Kids+ (fka FreeTime Unlimited), which has thousands of titles. The Kindle Kids Edition was so popular that Amazon's making a Kindle Paperwhite Kids Edition, which we will review soon. You get the same 6-inch, 167 ppi display and front lighting, and the display is still inset, not flush with the frame. Otherwise, the Kindle Kids Edition is the same tablet as the 2019 Kindle. In fact, the Kids Edition is so close to our ideal Kindle interface, we wish Amazon would offer it as a mode for adults who just want to read the book, and not dabble in the Goodreads community. Even better, there are no lock screen ads. Kids will like it for the colored cases, while parents will love Amazon's 2-year no-questions-asked warranty. Īmazon's latest Kindle improves on the $90 Kindle by adding what's missing and chipping away at the cruft that fills up a regular Kindle. Read our full Amazon Kindle (2022) review. Unless you really need a waterproof Kindle, it’s tough to advocate spending more than the $100 you'll pay for a new Amazon Kindle (2022). It’s lightweight and comfortable to hold, the display is bright and crisp - a massive improvement over earlier models - and the battery lasts for ages. ![]() Ultimately though, the Kindle 2022 is probably the best Kindle for most people. Admittedly, if Amazon fixed those things there would be no reason to get the Paperwhite, so while we're disappointed we aren't shocked. Also, our reviewer missed having the option adjust the warmth of the display light, another minor but meaningful Paperwhite feature - though if you’re fine with using dark mode it’s easy to move past that shortcoming. The fact that the Kindle 2022 isn’t waterproof is probably the biggest differentiator between it and the more expensive Paperwhite. That’s not to say there aren’t improvements that could be made. Being locked into Amazon’s ecosystem is a drag, but you can’t really knock the Kindle for that. The Amazon Kindle (2022) is nearly a perfect device for what it is, and some of its flaws are more down to Amazon than the device itself. Read our full Amazon Kindle Paperwhite (2021) review. It worked just as well as it did before when we took it out. Our testing of the Paperwhite 2021's waterproofing included a 20 minute bath in our sink. That said, it's gained one of the Oasis' once unique features: display warmth. The Paperwhite costs slightly more than half as much as the $250 Kindle Oasis, coming in at $139 ($10 more than in previous years). Faster charging doesn't appear to be on the table, but the microUSB port has been around for way too long, and is often fragile, so we're happy to see it go. It's a welcome change if only for the reversible port. And it's still got a great waterproofing (IPX8-rated) protection.Īfter the larger display, the big change this year is the move from microUSB charging to USB-C. While it's still a super-sharp 300-ppi display, it's now supported by an array of 17 LED backlights, for incredibly even lighting. The bezels are also smaller, so the device didn't have to grow too much to accommodate the growth from a 6-inch panel. ![]() It's got the same basic look as previous Kindles and Kindle Paperwhite models, a matte black shell and an e-ink screen, but this time it's larger, with a 6.8-inch panel. Small changes lead to great products staying great, and such is the case with the new Kindle Paperwhite (2021). It is a great book if you’re looking for something light and entertaining to read. I would say it isn’t outright offensive, but if you are not into the humanization of Jesus Christ, you probably won’t want to read this. I would recommend this book if you are someone who is not easily offended by poking fun at religion. And all the time, the young man who is Joshua, Jesus Christ, the Messiah, learns the lessons he needs to become the Savior and lead his people to salvation. ![]() Steven Erikson's Malazan Book of the Fallen is full of Physical Gods, many of which hang out with mortals. Lamb: The Gospel According To Biff, Christ's Childhood Pal toys with the trope a bit, since Biff was Jesus' best friend before he hit it big. Biff apparently invented sarcasm and the latté (which the messiah becomes quite partial to). Jesus is on moderately friendly terms with him, but also seems fairly exasperated by his antics. They practiced yoga, Kung Fu, Judo (apparently named after them – who were Jews). It was quite an adventure they met a demon, a yeti, and the untouchables of India. ![]() Biff’s gospel follows the two boys from Galilee all through the Middle East and Asia on their journey to learn the wisdom of the three wise men who witnessed Christ’s birth. I am not religious and am not familiar with most of the bible, but this book was still very entertaining – although I have a feeling that I probably missed a lot of references that someone more savvy may have picked up. This book is a basically about the life of Jesus Christ, the founder of Christianity. It reminded me in many ways of Douglas Adams’ The Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy. There were definitely times I chuckled out loud at work while listening to this book. It isn’t often you come across a book that is at times laugh out loud funny. He is forbidden to read the new testament, he is forbidden to leave the hotel, and he is forbidden to order any more pizza until the first chapter is completed. He has been resurrected and locked in a hotel room with a watchful angel, not allowed to leave until he has recorded his life with Christ. The writing in this novel is hilariously clever. Have you ever wondered what Jesus Christ was up to as a child? How it was coming to terms with the massive mission he was given by his almighty father? Who his friends were? What kind of mother Mother Mary was? Look no further, because Christ’s childhood pal, Levi, who was called Biff, has been resurrected by the angels and blessed with the gift of tongues in order to record his experience growing up as the Lamb of God’s best friend. California is completely their equal: they also come into the game with five interceptions. A couple defensive numbers to keep in mind before kickoff: Washington State enters the game having picked the ball off five times, good for 20th in the nation. The Cougars and California now sit at an identical 3-1. Those interested in the spread don't face an easy decision since they are 2-0 ATS and the Golden Bears 2-0. Washington State is the favorite in this one, with an expected 4-point margin of victory. Ott's sharp performance set his single-game rushing touchdown high for the season. One of the most memorable plays of the contest was Ott's 73-yard touchdown rush in the first quarter. RB Jaydn Ott went supernova for California as he rushed for three TDs and 274 yards on 19 carries. ![]() The Golden Bears took down Arizona 49-31. Meanwhile, California was hampered by 85 penalty yards against the Arizona Wildcats last week, but luckily for them that wasn't the tale of the game. That was the first 300+ yard effort for Ward this season. No one had a standout game offensively for Washington State, but they got scores from a handful of players including WR De'zhaun Stribling, RB Nakia Watson, and LB Francisco Mauigoa. ![]() It was close but no cigar for the Cougars as they fell 44-41 to Oregon. Washington State scored first but ultimately less than the Oregon Ducks in their matchup last week. These two teams have set a high bar for this game after stand-out offensive performances in their previous games. Martin Stadium, where kick-off is scheduled for 5:30 p.m. That year's the team was led by head coach Bruce Snyder. ![]() Following that game, Cal did not have a winning season until 1990. The Play is considered to be one of the most memorable moments in college football history. Washington State will play host again and welcome the Golden Bears to Clarence D. In the ensuing kickoff return, Cal used five laterals to score a touchdown and turn certain defeat into a 2520 victory. The Washington State Cougars and the California Golden Bears are even-steven against one another since October of 2015 (3-3), but not for long. ![]() Project goals: Object creation and manipulation. Also, being open-source means that technically skilled users can customize some features and incorporate the app into other software.
